Pruning young trees is one of the most important actions you can take to help them thrive in the built environment. Whether in your backyard, on the sidewalk, or in your neighborhood park, shaping young trees through proper pruning practices will help them grow healthy and strong, and prevent potential problems in the future.
At this workshop, we’ll cover important lessons such as:
- Evaluating a tree’s natural form and enhancing it through pruning
- Determining the proper cuts using the 3 Ds: Dead, Damaged, and Diseased branches
- Making the cut: Removing branches safely while doing the least possible harm to the tree
Pruning is an art and a science, and it can often be challenging at first. But practice makes perfect! Join Tree Pittsburgh’s ISA Certified Arborists at this workshop to sharpen your skills!
For a great review of pruning techniques, check out this pruning resource from the ISA.
