The Penn-Del ISA Tree Climbing Competition: Get Ready!

Tree Pittsburgh is preparing for the Penn-Del ISA Western Tree Climbing Championship in Arsenal Park on Saturday May 12th, from 9am-4pm.

Watch as professional tree climbers take to the limbs to compete in five different tree work-related areas in hopes of earning the State and National titles!  The Tree Climbing Competition tests skills and agility in the tree-tops using scenarios that tree workers face on a regular basis.  Climbers use saddles, climbing rope, and other safety devices to manuever safely into the tree and around the canopy.

This year's competition is at Arsenal Park on 40th Street in Lawrenceville. 

 

Climbers compete in five different challenges designed to show off the skills necessary to be a professional tree worker.

Western Pennsylvania Tree Climbing School

Date: May 14-18, 2012

Time: 8:30am – 4:30pm

Location: Devil’s Elbow Grove, North Park 

This five-day tree climbing school is sponsored by the Pennsylvania State University Cooperative Extension and the International Society of Arboriculture - Penn Del
Chapter. The school is designed to teach the fundamentals of safe tree climbing and maintenance. Major emphasis will be placed on learning the skills required
to climb and prune trees.
